This is a bi-weekly Sunday morning class and Thursday afternoon class meets for two hours each session for children ages 8-9 years old. Subjects include: Hebrew, Bible, Gemilut Chasadim (the value of loving- kindness), Lifecycle Traditions, Mitzvot/Tzedakah (Jewish obligations), Prayer/Blessings, and Israel. Using the Hineni 1 book the children will learn to read and the meanings of basic blessings and prayers. As part of their study of Israel, the students will be introduced to conversational Hebrew. Students read and discuss Bible stories using The Explorer's Bible, Book One. Students participate in the P/K–4 Friday evening service. Games, art projects, music and innovative activities create a fun and an interactive community-building experience is enjoyed by our students.

Grades 3 & 4 Class Notes

January 8, 2012

Hello parents!

Firstly, I hope everybody had enjoyable holidays; I was especially touched by your Chanukkah gift to me, and am most appreciative. The cookbook was incredibly thoughtful.

Secondly, an update on what we've been doing in class. We have been assiduously practicing Hebrew cursive and the v'ahavta, as well as completing related pages to reinforce both phonetics and meaning in our workbook and textbook. For this week, students should practice the v'ahavta up through the third line on the page with transliteration (link below). Additionally, I've attached a recording.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

 Best wishes,

JP
